Virginia Spigener
Virginia and I met 25 years ago when I stepped into her iconic gift shop The Wrinkled Egg in a charmingly renovated gas station, on the main corner in historic Flat Rock, NC. It was the height of summer camp season and the charming shop was bustling with parents and their children, campers eager to see her pet rabbits and eating ice cream. All these years, later Virginia’s shop continues to thrive as a favorite to locals and visitors alike.
When Virginia is not at the shop, you might find her like I did this day with her horses and two black dogs, shoveling straw, stroking mains and enjoying the quiet forest.
Photo credit for the shop: I grabbed a screen clip from the shop website. Not my photo.
